Emirates International Aluminum is completing a major part of Al Taweelah Refinery for Alumina Refinery

Emirates Aluminum Company announced the completion of the Al-Taweelah Refining Plant (Alumina Refinery) after more than 2.4 million hours of work. This is an important achievement in the implementation of this huge industrial project which will ensure the needs of the aluminum sector in the UAE of the main raw materials Thus reducing its dependence on foreign imports.
Al Taweelah Refinery is the first of its kind in the country, refining bauxite ore into alumina, one of the primary raw materials used in the aluminum industry.
The refinery sections are implemented on a sequential schedule to allow for the implementation of the pre-operation and experimental operation, which includes the testing of thousands of machines and equipment that together form this prospective industrial building.
The calcination facility alone has more than 1,700 devices and tools, more than 100 engines and 165 km of cable extensions.
Alumina production is expected to start from the Taweelah refinery in the first half of 2019. Currently, more than 11,000 workers are working on the project, which cost about $ 3.3 billion.
The completion of the facility was announced during the ceremony, which was attended by Rita Swan, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the UAE, Abdullah Jassim Bin Kalban, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates International Aluminum Company, and Cali Harki, Executive Vice President for Metal, Energy and Water Works, Who took over the construction work of the facility.
“The completion of a major part of Al Taweelah Refinery is a milestone in the development of this huge project, which will provide the company’s aluminum smelters with the necessary supplies of raw materials at a competitive cost,” said Abdulla Jassim Bin Kalban
