The establishment of the New Zealand Business Council under the umbrella of the Dubai Chamber

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has announced the establishment of the New Zealand Business Council in Dubai and the Northern Region in an effort to strengthen the UAE-New Zealand relations and develop its growth prospects. This will consolidate the voice of New Zealand businessmen and companies in Dubai and strengthen the presence of New Zealand companies in the emirate.
With the establishment of the New Zealand Business Council, the total number of business councils under the umbrella of the chamber is 50, representing a strong pillar of the economy in the Emirate of Dubai to enhance its competitiveness and improve its performance and ability to attract foreign direct investment.
The New Zealand Business Council has a membership of about 100 companies. Its members range from medical, public relations, legal services and education to agriculture, general trade, aviation, hospitality and tourism, as well as food and beverage.
The inauguration ceremony of the New Zealand Business Council was attended by HE Kevin McKenna, Consul General of New Zealand in Dubai, and Mr. Clayton Kimpton, New Zealand Commissioner General of Expo 2020, while attended by Dubai Chamber Hassan Al Hashimi, Director of International Relations, who praised the establishment of the Council, Economic relations between the business communities of Dubai and New Zealand.
Al-Hashemi pointed out that Dubai’s non-oil trade with New Zealand during the first nine months of 2018 amounted to about 2 billion dirhams, while the UAE is among the top ten trading partners of New Zealand in the world, stressing that the establishment of the New Zealand Business Council will enhance bilateral cooperation prospects and move them to more advanced levels.
“Trade relations between New Zealand and the UAE are strong and robust as we look forward to growth in activities and interaction with the support of the Dubai Chamber. The New Zealand Business Council will work to strengthen communication between the parties involved in promoting trade and economic relations and discussing challenges,” said Andrew Brier, Chairman of the New Zealand Business Council. And to review opportunities for developing cooperation between the business communities of both sides. ”
Business groups and councils play an important role in supporting the economic growth of the Emirate of Dubai, a key component of the business community, driving the business forward by leveraging the capacity and expertise to enhance the competitiveness of the business community in the emirate.
The Dubai Chamber currently provides all the needs of groups and business councils of different facilities such as inviting them to participate in various events organized by the Chamber and organize business meetings to help them to strengthen their business relations. The chamber also communicates with the councils and business groups and submits its recommendations and proposals to the concerned government bodies through the Chamber’s role as a direct link between the private sector and the various governmental bodies in the country.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a strong interest in the interests of the business community in the commercial, industrial and service sectors in Dubai, where it focuses on dialogue with its members and business groups and follow up their affairs and study their recommendations to identify their priorities and interests and assist them in developing their businesses at home and abroad. Related to their activities and to explore new opportunities for them.
