The Industrial Development Bureau of the Abu Dhabi Department of Development (Abu Dhabi), in cooperation with the Waste Management Center (Abu Dhabi), organized a workshop at the Department’s headquarters to introduce the “Rotate Auctions” initiative to encourage the business sector to properly handle waste and reduce environmental damage by adopting environmentally friendly initiatives.
Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Acting Director General of the Waste Management Center, said: “TAKREQ is in line with the strategy of the Center to achieve innovative and integrated management of the waste sector through the digital transformation of services through the use of modern technology solutions.
He stressed the importance of recycling such activities with the strategic partners in order to familiarize the private sector stakeholders from waste producers and environmental service providers with the importance of proper handling of waste and encourage the business sector to invest in the trade of recyclable materials in a safe and secure manner.
Dr. Al-Kaabi explained that the recycling center has provided an electronic platform for waste producers to enable the private sector to advertise and sell recyclable materials, as well as to promote reuse, which is one of the three main engines supporting the sound management of waste. The “Recycling Auctions” service contributes to waste minimization and encourages waste producers to increase the economic return of recyclable materials.
