Commercial Control and Protection Department at the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah inspects Emirate markets

The Department of Economic Development in Sharjah has stepped up its control campaigns on economic establishments linked to the holy month of Ramadan as Jubail market and the various economic activities that Iqbal has in the holy month of Ramadan. The Department organized awareness and  campaigns at the emirate level to educate consumers and traders about their rights and duties.

These campaigns come within the framework of the Department’s keenness to protect consumers and their interest in the safety of Sharjah markets and in line with the Department’s mission to achieve the economic development of the Emirate.

The Commercial Control and Protection Department at the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah continues its field visits and inspection tours of the emirate’s markets, which included a number of key markets to familiarize traders and sellers in these markets with the need to develop lists of prices of products and advise on the importance of complying with the laws and ensuring consumer knowledge of the value of consumer goods, Prices and prevent any excesses in the sales process.

The main objective of these campaigns and control tours is to ensure the safety of the products offered in the market and to comply with the approved specifications in order to provide consumer safety in the markets of the Emirate of Sharjah. This is done regularly through a comprehensive field plan implemented throughout the year by the competent team of commercial officers in the Department of Control and Trade Protection, where these tours are intensified during the days preceding the important seasons such as the holy month of Ramadan and the holiday season, to control markets and raise awareness among traders and consumers and to combat all aspects of commercial fraud and reduce the negative practices that may be resorted to by some traders.

He added that the Department organized, in cooperation with Sharjah Municipality, joint campaigns through the preparation of an intensive program to achieve comprehensive control of markets
