The launch of the first specialized academy in the “VAT”

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), represented by the Center for Excellence in Applied Research and Training (CERT) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, launched the “Value Added Tax Academy” in line with the country’s application of tax since the beginning of this year.
The Academy, the first of its kind in this field, is an accredited official body for the award of professional qualifications and preparation of specialists in the field of taxation as well as its role in training and community awareness of the tax system.
Dr. Abdul Latif Al Shamsi, Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology, said that the application of value added tax imposed functional variables and the need for competencies with experience in tax transactions, in addition to the need to increase awareness among institutions and individuals about their nature.
He added that the Higher Colleges of Technology, represented by CERT, were keen to play an active role by launching the Academy to meet the needs of the labor market from the qualified competencies to support the realization of national visions, which will contribute to the development of professional qualifications according to international standards to prepare competencies to work as tax agents and tax specialists. To provide training programs for employees concerned with tax matters in various sectors in the country as well as to provide awareness workshops and implementation on the implementation of the tax.
For his part, Younis Haji al-Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, pointed out that with the introduction of value added tax we need about 3400 jobs and this academy will contribute in providing national competencies to fill these jobs, which will have more opportunities for employment in the labor market.
