The head of Amman Chamber of Commerce, Al Ain Isa Haidar Murad, announced the opening of the charter line between Amman and the Cypriot city of Paphos on Tuesday in a joint effort with the Greater Amman Municipality.
He stressed that the economic delegation from the Cypriot city of Paphos will be on the first flight from there, adding that the line will contribute to enhancing tourism and trade cooperation between the two countries and facilitate the movement of business owners and investors.
Al-Ain Murad said Sunday that the launch of the airline is part of the implementation of the plan of action set up by the Chamber in partnership with the mayor of the Greek city of Paphos and the signing of a twinning agreement between Amman and Paphos.
He added that the launch of the airline will also contribute to the promotion of Jordanian products and services in Cyprus to boost the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, especially that Jordan has many products and goods of high quality and competition and international technical specifications.
The head of the chamber said that the plan also includes exchanging visits of economic delegations to discuss opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that the visit of the economic delegation from Paphos to the Kingdom during the next two days is the fruit of cooperation between the two parties.
Al-Murad pointed to the memorandum of understanding signed by the two chambers of commerce in Amman and the trade and industry of the Cypriot city of Paphos last year with the aim of developing and deepening trade and industrial relations between the two countries and establishing investment and trade forums.
The Turkish capital Amman and Paphos have a twinning agreement to promote bilateral cooperation, exchange information and share experiences in urban planning and infrastructure.
Al-Ain Murad said that the delegation of the economic city of Paphos, which will visit the Kingdom, will hold several meetings with official officials in addition to meetings with the commercial and industrial sectors to discuss the mechanisms of developing bilateral trade and investment relations.
The President of the Chamber pointed to the depth of the political relations between Jordan and Cyprus and the mutual visits of the two countries’ leaders, which contributed to laying the foundations for establishing strong economic relations and benefiting from the great economic opportunities.
He pointed out that the number of trade between Jordan and Cyprus is still less than ambitions, which requires joint action to increase it and stimulate the private sector to benefit from the available opportunities, stressing the responsibility of the private sector in this regard and increase trade exchanges between the two countries and establish investment partnerships.

Murad said that Jordan has many products, goods and services that make up a large part of the needs of the Cypriot market of medicines, phosphates, vegetables, fertilizers, potash, Dead Sea salts and its products.
Jordan’s investments in Jordan include telecommunications, information, construction, building materials, services, consulting, electricity, electronics and renewable energy. Jordan’s foreign trade with Cyprus includes plant products, metal products, products for the chemical industry, plastics, precision equipment, photographic equipment, film, textiles, ceramics and glass.
