MediaIn – Dubai 18 February 2018 WAM

NASDAQ Dubai has launched future contracts linked to the Dubai Financial Market General Index in a move that represents a qualitative leap for investors as it provides new tools to track the performance of the Dubai Financial Market, the second largest stock market in the GCC countries by value.

By trading futures on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) index, investors will be able to invest for the first time in a group of 37 leading companies in the Middle East listed on the Dubai Financial Market, including Emaar Properties, Dubai Islamic Bank and Dubai Investments, without trading their shares or contracts on its individual shares.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Essa Kazim, said that the launch of future contracts on the Dubai Financial Market Index is one of the most significant developments in the financial markets in Dubai in recent years and represents an important step in the joint strategy of Dubai Financial Market and NASDAQ Dubai The widest range of products for institutional and individual investors.

He said future index futures boost Dubai’s position as a center for global financial markets and offer a wide range of opportunities. Futures are also likely to attract more foreign investment from major funds seeking hedging and investment solutions.
