The World Bank has approved a $ 200 million project to support the Government in its efforts to continue to provide vital primary and secondary health care services to uninsured Jordanian citizens and Syrian refugees at MOH centers.
The World Bank said in a statement Tuesday that this support represents additional funding for Jordan’s $ 50 million emergency health project, approved in June 2017 and part of a larger $ 150 million project that received parallel funding from the Islamic Development Bank.
The World Bank added that the project provided vital health care services to targeted populations, with 1.2 million primary health care services and 2.9 million secondary health care services provided.
The additional funding includes a contribution of $ 58.9 million from the global program of concessional financing facilities and will help the Ministry of Health continue to provide vital health care services to the target population at a time when the presence of Syrian refugees continues to place severe strains on vital services Jordan.
“The Jordanian government is committed to taking measures to meet its commitment to achieve universal health coverage and human capital development for all population groups,” said Saruj Kumar Jha, Regional Director, Mashreq World Bank. “The additional funding is based on the original project performance and rapid implementation to help Jordan absorb The additional pressure on his health system and the prevention of loss of gains achieved by the sector over the past ten years.
