Islamabad On August 31, the death toll from the floods that began in early June in Pakistan rose to 1162, including 384 children and 231 women, according to the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan.
More than 33 million people in about 116 out of 160 administrative districts in Pakistan were affected by the floods, with at least 72 districts declared affected.
On Tuesday, the United Nations issued an urgent appeal for $160 million in emergency aid to help Pakistan.
