Yarob al-Qudah, said in a press statement on Saturday that the ministry is imposing tight control on the markets to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law and adherence to the price limits specified for bread and to ensure that there are no cases of defrauding the prices of basic materials. The judges pointed out that the ministry has allocated a number of control teams in various rounds starting from 8:30 am and continuing until 10:00 pm, with the possibility of continuing the night control round to late hours if necessary to control the commercial establishments in terms of controlling the prices of the goods specified in their price ceilings (such as bread, , Meals offered at popular restaurants), announcement of prices or liquidation operations, promotions and promotion to ensure the stability of the market and to protect the rights of consumers and the rights of all commercial sectors.

He added that the market control teams are working to monitor the prices of strategic, basic and food commodities, especially which constitute the main food basket for citizens and know the changes that keep pace with the prices of those commodities. He pointed out that if the presence of excessive prices of any goods is found, “To determine the price ceilings of those commodities until the prices stabilize and fall back as happened in previous times when the price ceilings were set for several items.”

In light of the liberalization of flour subsidy and the fixing of the price ceilings for baking and the promulgation of the amended system of special tax No. (3) for the year 2018. The Minister of Justice said that under the Consumer Protection Law No. 7 of 2017, which was implemented since the middle of last year, a special department was established in the ministry under the name of the Consumer Protection Directorate to promote consumer protection in an integrated manner with the other legislations in force in other official bodies Which dealt with the protection of consumer sectors in specific parts. The law defines consumer rights and obligations of the provider, as well as mechanisms for organizing the work and establishment of consumer protection associations in the Kingdom and mechanisms for submitting complaints.
