He added that the market control teams are working to monitor the prices of strategic, basic and food commodities, especially which constitute the main food basket for citizens and know the changes that keep pace with the prices of those commodities. He pointed out that if the presence of excessive prices of any goods is found, “To determine the price ceilings of those commodities until the prices stabilize and fall back as happened in previous times when the price ceilings were set for several items.”

The Minister of Justice said that under the Consumer Protection Law No. 7 of 2017, which was implemented since the middle of last year, a special department was established in the ministry under the name of the Consumer Protection Directorate to promote consumer protection in an integrated manner with the other legislations in force in other official bodies Which dealt with the protection of consumer sectors in specific parts. The law defines consumer rights and obligations of the provider, as well as mechanisms for organizing the work and establishment of consumer protection associations in the Kingdom and mechanisms for submitting complaints.
