France announces training of 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers

On Saturday, French Defense Minister Sebastien Licornu announced in an interview with the newspaper “Le Parisien” that France will train “up to two thousand Ukrainian soldiers” on its soil.
He explained that these soldiers “will join our units for several weeks”, stressing that the training will cover three levels of “general combatant training” and “then specific needs requested by the Ukrainians such as logistics”, and “a third level of training on equipment that we provided” to Ukraine.
“We do this by respecting the rules of law, without being a party to the conflict because we are not at war. We are helping a country at war,” Licornu added.
The Minister of Defense confirmed that France will deliver the Crotal air defense systems to Ukraine, referring to an announcement made by President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday to this effect.
