“Passenger Terminal A” is equipped with the latest technical innovations, as it includes a group of interconnected biometric solutions and systems, which allow travelers to benefit from the speed and smoothness of the digital journey experience and enjoy their journey, and this includes pre-travel procedures and the departure gate, which enables travelers to complete Their procedures are carried out independently through self-service kiosks, simple security checkpoints and modern baggage handling systems.

45 million passengers

“Passenger Terminal A” extends over an area of 742 thousand square metres, and is thus considered one of the largest passenger terminals in the world. The new building will contribute to increasing the capacity of Abu Dhabi International Airport, whether for passengers or cargo. Once it enters the actual operation phase, the building will provide its services to up to 45 million passengers per year, with the ability to carry out travel procedures for 11,000 passengers per hour and operate 79 aircraft at all times.

Universal design

The new building has won many international design awards, thanks to its unique architecture as a remarkable cultural landmark in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as it combines modern designs, simple touches, and operational excellence. The exterior glass also contributes to increasing the entry of natural light into the huge space inside the building.

The building features highly energy-efficient lighting options, advanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, in addition to the use of sustainable building materials, in line with the UAE’s ambitions and goals in the field of sustainability. The new building also confirms Abu Dhabi Airports’ commitment to reducing and reducing its operational carbon footprint, as evidenced by the installation of a photovoltaic system on top of the roof of the parking lot of Terminal A, which currently operates a photovoltaic solar energy plant with a capacity of three megawatts, which contributes to the neutralization of about 5,300 tons of carbon equivalent. carbon dioxide annually.
