SAR 1.5 million in fines for veterinary facilities and projects in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture imposed fines of 1.511.000 riyals on 47 violations of livestock regulations, veterinary medical professions and animal welfare during May and June of this year.
The Director General of the Department of Health and Veterinary Control at the Ministry, Dr. Ali Al-Duwairj, pointed out that the violations recorded were the sale of unsafe domestic animal products for human consumption, in addition to the fact that the veterinary epidemiological teams affiliated to the Ministry were unable to withdraw samples from livestock, Selling, selling sick animals, failing to provide veterinary supervision on some livestock production projects, in addition to violations related to licenses for these establishments, and violations of the veterinary system, which were referred to the General Authority for Food And by virtue of jurisdiction.
The sanctions extended to some animal carriers to Mecca and holy sites for not cooperating with veterinary Hajj teams responsible for ensuring the safety of animals heading to those areas. The penalties also included a veterinarian who used prohibited vehicles to change the form of camels.
Al-Dweirj pointed out that the irregularities were distributed to a number of regions of the Kingdom. Makkah first came with 27 violations, followed by Riyadh with 6 violations, Qassim and Jazan with 5 violations each, Asir region 3 and finally one in the Eastern Province .
He praised the veterinary supervisors in the branches of the ministry and its offices in the various regions of the Kingdom. He called on the owners of the establishments and their operators to cooperate with them and comply with the regulations and instructions issued by the ministry. He stressed that the ministry will not hesitate to apply the penalties stipulated in the above mentioned regulations to any person who proves his violation, To report any irregularities through the toll free number 8002470000, praising the community’s cooperation in reporting some of these violations.
