5274 ATMs in the UAE by the end of last March

The number of ATMs operating in the UAE reached 5274 at the end of March, an increase of 63 compared to 5211 in the same month in 2017, according to statistics issued by the Central Bank of UAE today.
The increase in the number of ATMs of the banks operating in the country by the end of the first quarter of this year in the framework of the constant endeavor of the banking system to automate all its work and to facilitate the customers in addition to achieving the goal of reducing the operating cost.
According to Central Bank statistics on developments in the banking system in the country at the end of last March, the number of national banks reached 22 banks, the number of branches decreased from 834 to 761 branches in the same monitoring period. The number of electronic banking units of these banks also decreased from 35 to 32 Unit and number of exchange offices from 72 to 48 offices.
The number of GCC banks operating in the UAE remained at the same level at the end of the first quarter, which is 6 banks with 4 branches. The number of foreign banks increased from 20 to 21 banks, while the number of branches decreased from 81 to 77 branches and the number of electronic banking units from 29 to 21 Alone.
At the end of the first quarter of 2018, the number of other financial institutions subject to the Central Bank’s license and control was 12 business banks, 102 representative offices, 27 finance companies, 20 financial investment companies, 30 exchange houses and 11 brokerage offices.
