The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs led the delegation of the State participating in the 57th meeting of the GCC Cooperation Committee to be hosted by the Omani capital of Muscat.
The delegation included the Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial Affairs Sector, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial Remedies Sector and the Assistant Undersecretary for the Foreign Trade Sector.
The agenda of the meeting dealt with a number of vital items related to aspects related to the Patent System Law, the terms of reference of the Patent Office of the GCC States, Entrepreneurship Initiatives, Innovation and Small and Medium Enterprises, the development of a unified trademark registration platform, proposals for standardization of certificates of origin, A number of other issues related to the activity of commercial agencies, credit and others.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy said that the GCC Cooperation Committee represents an important platform to promote joint GCC action, discuss economic opportunities and challenges and follow up regional and international developments to achieve common benefit for the GCC countries, stressing the UAE’s keenness to support Gulf economic integration and contribute effectively to enriching The work of the Committee.
He pointed out that the 57th meeting of the Committee on Trade Cooperation has witnessed fruitful discussions on a number of vital topics that address and serve the current requirements for developing the capacities of economic cooperation at the GCC level, in line with the technological and technological changes and meet the requirements of the concept of the new economy.
He stressed the importance of the current efforts to organize cooperation frameworks to strengthen the legislative and institutional structure at the GCC level in relation to the intellectual property system, whether in the field of patents, trademarks, copyright, intellectual works and other axes that are integrated with the development visions of the Member States.
In addition, a memorandum was reviewed on the draft law of the unified trading system and on the amendments of the unified anti-fraud law in the GCC countries, discussing the recommendations of the WTO Committee and initiatives to activate joint GCC work in the field of trade. Commercial.
