The Yemeni government announced its new budget for 2018 after a three-year hiatus following the invasion of the Huthi militia and the takeover of the capital Sanaa in September 2014.
The Prime Minister Ahmed Obaid bin Dghar told a news conference in the interim capital of Aden today that the new budget is nine hundred and eighty-eight billion and two hundred and three million five hundred thousand riyals, and expenses estimated at four hundred and sixty-five billion and forty-two million six hundred and thirty-one thousand riyals and a financial deficit of 33 %.
“The budget, by all standards, remains an austerity budget governed by the conditions of the coup, the rebellion against legitimacy, the subjugation of half the population and almost a quarter of the land under the power of the coup,” Ben Dagher said.
He added that the Yemeni House of Representatives, will be held next month in the interim capital of Aden meeting to approve the budget
