Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced the issuance of qualification applications for qualified developers to build and operate the Phase 5 project of the 900 MW solar power plant and the solar PV system under the independent product system, to be phased in from the second quarter From 2021.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Power Complex is the world’s largest renewable energy strategic project under the IPP / Independent Production System (IPP), with 5,000 megawatts to be generated by 2030 with an investment of AED 50 billion. And use of solar energy.
The first phase of the complex started with a capacity of 13 megawatts in 2013 using PV technology. The second phase of production of 200 megawatts of electricity by PV technology was inaugurated in March 2017. The third phase is to be operated with 800 megawatts and photovoltaic technology in 2020.
Phase IV is the world’s largest solar energy investment project in a single location under the independent product system, with total investment reaching AED 16 billion.
The project will use three joint technologies to produce 950 megawatts of clean energy. The first is the 600-megawatt parabolic reflector system, the 100 megawatt concentrated solar power plant and 250 megawatt solar photovoltaic panels. The world’s tallest solar power tower, 260 meters high The largest solar storage capacity for 15 hours will allow 24-hour power production.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), said: “We are aiming to complete the stages of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Power Project at the highest level and in accordance with the highest international standards and using the latest technologies in the field of solar energy in line with the ambitious vision of HH Sheikh Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
