Dubai Customs: Customs data accounts for 78 percent of total 2018 transactions

Customs data transactions accounted for 78 per cent of the 7.5 million transactions issued by Dubai Customs during the year 2018.
The rate of happiness in customs data management increased to reach 90 percent by the end of last year, which reflected positively on the percentage of Dubai Customs customers who reached 97.5 percent for the same year.
This came during a visit by Ahmed Mahbub Musabeh, Director of Customs Customs Data Dubai and Control Room of the Customs Intelligence Department, accompanied by Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, Managing Director of Customer Management and Shu’ayb Al Suwaidi, Director of Customs Intelligence.
During the tour, Musabeh reviewed the efforts of customs data management personnel who are working on processing the data transferred from the risk engine system. The department supervises e-clearance transactions through the Mersal system around the clock. 98% of the customs data received by the department are processed within two hours As well as feeding the risk engine system with information to increase targeting efficiency.
Dubai Customs said that the control room is one of the main pillars of customs work in Dubai and operates within a coordinated system coordinated by a qualified human cadre working round the clock to provide security services of speed and excellence in responding to all communications and complaints received by the Chamber to maintain the security and stability of the community.
Through its various customs departments, the Department ensures the security and safety of the members of the community by working around the clock, and the employees of the Department are keen to employ their skills and practical experience in the customs work and improve the level of services provided to the public.
The Chamber operates 23 customs security programs around the clock to follow up inspections and shipments, inquire about containers, receive telephone calls and inquiries from customs centers, publish security circulars at different ports, and finally add the tracking of ships and suspicious cargo in an electronic program linked to the risk engine.
Last year, the control room received more than 24,000 phone calls, including nearly 1,000 calls for the Rafid service launched by Dubai Customs in 2015, a service available to employees, the public and customers to report any customs risks or wrong business practices that would harm the economy, trade or disruption. Security and stability of the homeland in accordance with a special work system enjoys a high degree of confidentiality and safety in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the work of the Department.
The control room is the first of its kind at the level of the region and the Arab world in the field of customs work was established in 2007 after the increase in customs operations and increase the geographical scope of customs / land / sea / air centers in the Emirate of Dubai and the urgent need to tighten controls and control at all customs outlets where It monitors the security customs work around the clock and many of the tasks, including follow-up surveillance cameras distributed to land and sea customs and air cargo, and manages the room 514 cameras distributed across 25 outlets across the Emirate.
