Mohammed bin Zayed transfers the tasks of “punitive facilities” from the Abu Dhabi Police to the Judicial Department

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, issued a law regarding penal and correctional facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, according to which the competences of managing penal and correctional facilities and juvenile institutions in the emirate are transferred from the Abu Dhabi Police General Command to the Judicial Department – Abu Dhabi.

The law, which takes effect from January 1, 2024, will strengthen the correction and rehabilitation system in the emirate.
