If you need to charge your electric car, the UAE is one of the most affordable countries in the world for vehicle charging, according to a recent report.

The UAE ranked fourth in a global ranking of 50 countries for affordable electric vehicle charging infrastructure, outperforming countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States and China, according to Australian Cooper The Market.

The UAE scored well in both the electric and petrol car scales mentioned in the report, as the average cost of an electric car for a distance of 100 km was $1.02. It also came in third place, in terms of reasonable gasoline prices, at an average of $5.57 per 100 km.

Based on the results presented in the report, drivers in the UAE can save 81.77% of their average fuel bill by using electricity.

Over the past few years, the UAE has worked to advance its green agenda, as its willingness to adapt to electric vehicles has led to its position in eighth place on the global electric mobility readiness index, according to the results of the “Arthur D. Little” report for the year 2022. The market is also expected to grow. Electric vehicles in the country at a compound annual rate of 30% between 2022 and 2028.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) plans to install 1,000 public charging stations in the emirate by 2025, with an increase of 620 stations by the end of 2022.

Argentina, Malaysia and India ranked in the top three in terms of affordability of electric vehicle charging.

In Argentina, the average cost of charging electric vehicles is $0.46 per 100km, while petrol-powered vehicles in the South American country cost $6.24 in fuel per 100km.

The research also found that the most expensive countries are Denmark and Italy, which tied for first place, followed by Germany, Belgium, Lithuania, Austria and the Netherlands. In Denmark and Italy, drivers incur the cost of charging their electric cars at $7.49 per 100 km, compared to $12.55 for petrol per 100 km in Denmark and $10.35 in Italy.

According to the report, and depending on each country, EV drivers saved between 27.63% and 92.59% on their fuel bill per kilometer, compared to petrol-powered vehicles.
