The meetings of the Global Future Councils 2023 will begin in Dubai tomorrow, as part of the strategic partnership between the UAE government and the World Economic Forum, with the participation of 600 leaders and officials from the government and private sectors, international organizations, academic institutions, experts and future visionaries, who will meet in 30 councils focusing on designing future paths and directions. For five vital sectors including artificial intelligence and technology, environment and climate, governance, society, economy and finance.
The global future councils, which continue until October 18, aim to research and anticipate the future of strategic sectors, form integrated future visions and plans, and develop a set of solutions and ideas to confront current and future challenges in the fields of economy, technology, geopolitical transformations, infrastructure, health, society, and the fourth industrial revolution. The co-chair of the Global Future Councils added that the organization of the Global Future Councils coincides with a process of strategic partnership extending for more than two decades between the government of the UAE and the World Economic Forum, of which His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s historic speech before the World Economic Forum in the 2002 session constituted the first Its stations.
Muhammad Al-Gergawi pointed out that the outcomes of the work of the global future councils and the recommendations of their participants will form a future agenda for new global trends, and will establish innovative paths, models and solutions supported by advanced technology, keeping pace with accelerating changes, anticipating future challenges, and supporting humanity in its journey to ensure a better tomorrow for future generations.

The Global Future Councils represent a leading network for those concerned with designing and creating the future in various sectors. They are designed to form a deep understanding of the most vital topics, in addition to existing systems and how they affect global, regional, or other challenges. The councils bring together the most prominent experts in the world from academia and the business sector. government and civil society and helps identify and disseminate transformative ideas for global impact.
The Future Councils meet once a year to develop the councils’ outputs and participate in topic groups through which a set of outputs and recommendations are reached that contribute to shaping the agenda of the World Economic Forum, which will be held in January 2024.
Topics for Future Councils 2023 include; Future of advanced manufacturing and value chains, artificial intelligence, autonomous mobility, care economy, cities, clean air, complex risks, cybersecurity, data justice, just transition economy, energy transition, food and water security, geopolitical challenges, good governance, economic growth , jobs industry, metaverse, nature and security, zero emission living, climate and nature philanthropy, quantum economy, resilient financial systems, responsible investment, responsible use of resources, space, sustainable tourism, synthetic biology, tackling antimicrobial resistance, technology policy, trade and investment .

The Global Future Councils adopt three basic principles that focus on new ideas and innovative thinking, providing an international platform for cooperation based on data, evidence, facts and research between the government and private sectors, and adopting a multidisciplinary approach by bringing together thought leaders from the business sector, academia, society, governments and international organizations.
Last January, the UAE government and the World Economic Forum signed a partnership agreement to organize global future councils, in a new step in the partnership process between the two sides, which was crowned in May 2022 with the signing of a sustainable strategic global partnership agreement aimed at enhancing efforts to explore future opportunities and consolidate integration. And cooperate in supporting global initiatives and developing comprehensive future plans and strategies.
It is noteworthy that, since its launch in partnership between the UAE government and the World Economic Forum in 2008, over a period of 14 years, the Global Future Councils have brought together more than 12,000 participants from 100 countries, who met in about 900 councils that discussed the future of the sectors most closely related to human life.
