His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, visited a number of centers and headquarters of technology companies in the friendly People’s Republic of China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, on the sidelines of His Excellency’s participation in the “Belt and Road Initiative” summit in Hong Kong, which was held on September 13 and 14. Currently, more than 5,000 business leaders from different countries of the world participated in it.

 

 

 

 

His Excellency said, “The UAE is always seeking to strengthen its relations with its strategic partners around the world, and to explore more economic opportunities available in various markets, in order to support its economic model, which is based on the sectors of the new economy, and technology is one of its basic drivers and the cornerstone of its development.” Achieving the vision of the wise leadership to double the gross domestic product in light of the “We Are the Emirates 2031” vision.

 

 

 

 

His Excellency stressed that the technological boom that China is witnessing, and its growing trade network that reaches many countries in the world, in addition to the economic capabilities that the UAE possesses, various commercial tools and strong relations, constitute an important platform from which one can start towards forming a global economic and trade alliance that will push the wheel of growth. The international economy moves forward and contributes to ensuring the movement of supply chains in a sustainable manner in the face of the changes taking place in the world.

 

 

 

 

In addition, His Excellency Bin Touq visited the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park “HKSTP”, and stressed during a roundtable meeting that included many CEOs of the leading technology companies operating at the park, and in the presence of Dr. Sunny Chai, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Albert Wong, CEO of the park, the strength of historical relations. Between Abu Dhabi and Beijing.

 

 

 

 

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Park aims to create a vibrant environment for innovation and technology that achieves economic and social benefits and contributes to building a promising future with creative opportunities for entrepreneurs, by linking stakeholders together, facilitating the transfer of technological knowledge and nurturing talent with the aim of accelerating technological innovation and smart marketing.

 

 

 

 

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Park embraces about 800 emerging companies from different countries of the world that work in various fields, providing them with all types of support, which includes transforming ideas into existing technologies, developing their products, in addition to providing technological support through the advanced digital infrastructure it provides. for them.

 

 

 

 

His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq stressed the UAE’s keenness to adopt modern and innovative technologies in the field of information and communications technology, in a way that enhances the competitiveness and flexibility of its national economy globally, in line with its ambitious goals for the next fifty years.

 

 

 

 

His Excellency expressed his aspiration to move the level of strategic partnership with Chinese technology companies to more momentum levels in a way that supports the country’s ambitious development agenda, by adopting innovative initiatives and providing more support to Emirati companies, especially emerging companies, through joint programs that contribute to accelerating business growth. Similar to the “Home of Entrepreneurship”, through which the company provided all aspects of the technical support and training necessary for Emirati entrepreneurs.

 

 

 

 

His Excellency and the accompanying delegation also visited Shenzhen Capital Group, a Chinese company specializing in venture capital management and private equity, based in Shenzhen. It manages assets worth $61 billion and is one of the leading investment institutions in China. It has participated in multiple investment stages, from the early stage to the late stage.

 

 

 

 

The company typically invests in technology, media, telecommunications, healthcare, and other sectors. Since its founding in 1999, Shenzhen Capital Group has managed several funds and played a role in the development of several high-profile companies.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, His Excellency stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the business communities in the Emirates and China, and providing more support and facilities to the private sector and emerging companies from the two countries to expand and grow, in addition to benefiting from the advantages enjoyed by the flexible economic environment in the Emirates, and the incentives provided by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. With the aim of increasing the number of companies from both sides, especially those operating in various technological sectors.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, His Excellency invited Ni Zihuang, CEO of Shenzhen Capital Group, to attend the Investopia Summit, the important global investment event and review of investment opportunities in various sectors of the new economy, which will be held in the UAE during the year 2024.

 

 

 

 

The delegation also visited the headquarters of Pony Company in Guangdong Province, which is a global leader in the field of smart mobility and autonomous transportation services technology, and learned about its future expansion plans in the presence of a number of the company’s CEOs.

 

 

 

 

In this regard, His Excellency stressed that the UAE has been keen over the past years to build a safe and sustainable transportation system equipped with the latest technologies and technological means, expressing his aspiration to enhance cooperation with Poni Company to support the UAE’s goals of consolidating its position as a sustainable destination that adopts the latest technologies and innovative projects in the field of smart mobility, calling on the company To benefit from the advanced infrastructure and facilities of the UAE transportation sector, and the flexible legislation that regulates the work of smart transportation in the country, to reach other new and promising markets.

 

 

 

 

During the meetings, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq reviewed the developments that the UAE’s economic environment witnessed during the past period, in order to create an economic climate that supports the growth and prosperity of business, and attracts foreign direct investments, especially in the sectors of the new economy, in implementation of the forward-looking vision of the wise leadership in light of the determinants of the “We Are” vision. “UAE 2031”, which aims to make the country a global center for the new economy, by allowing foreign ownership to reach 100 percent, and issuing a system of legislation to protect intellectual property,
