The authority explained that the exempted categories include “the individual who left the country more than (3) months ago, and whose ID card expired after leaving the country, and the individual whose ID card expired after he was deported by order, administrative decision, or judicial ruling, or whose passport was seized.” On pending cases, provided that this is proven by a letter or receipt issued by the competent authorities that deported or detained him on pending cases, and the individual who was not issued an identity card for the period before he obtained the citizenship of the state and before he obtained the family book.

She added that there are 4 steps to submit a request for the service of exemption from paying late fines related to the Emirates ID card: It is: “Submitting a request to issue or renew an ID card through smart channels, then the fees due on the Emirates ID card will appear to the customer, including the late fees incurred, noting that if the customer is among the categories that are exempted from paying late fines, the application is made to Request the service through the smart services system, attach the required documents, to obtain the service, follow up on the request, obtain the result of the request with approval or rejection, and then complete the request with the ID card.
